2016 Safety Town Program



Safety Town is returning to Mountain Elementary School 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, June 13-24.

This free safety program is open to all children entering Kindergarten in the Fall or who will be five years of age by Sept. 1. The program is limited to 80 participants and registration is being accepted at the Walkup Aquatic Center front desk or you can register online via WebTrac on the PROS Division’s main page.

Safety Town’s mission is to provide the opportunity for students entering Kindergarten to learn about safety in their school, community and neighborhoods.

Students will learn strategies to keep themselves safe and have opportunities to practice basic safety procedures in new situations. Interactive activities will teach children about fire safety, bicycle safety, animal safety, gun safety, stranger safety, pedestrian safety, bus safety and drug safety.

Safety Town is a collaborative program provided by the Los Alamos Police Department, Los Alamos Public Schools, and Los Alamos Parks, Recreation and Open Space Division. Additional sponsors include Los Alamos National Bank, Smith’s Marketplace, Los Alamos Fire Department, Pajarito Environmental Education Center, Los Alamos Medical Center, Atomic City Transit, and the Los Alamos Animal Shelter.
