K2WW News:

The 10th annual K2 Women’s Weekend to benefit the Anita Salas Memorial Fund will go on despite the lack of snow.

In place of events Feb. 9-10, a DJ dance party is at 5 p.m. Feb. 10, at Bathtub Row Brewing Co-op in Central Park Square. The event will feature the Co-Op’s tasty brews and flavorful food from Los Alamos’ own Secret City Kitchen.

Help fundraise by participating in the auction and raffles for cool prizes and merchandise. The lack of snow does not mean there is lack of need, so we really need everyone to come out and support our friends and neighbors in Northern New Mexico who are battling breast and cervical cancer!

In the past 9 years this event has raised over $83,000 to provide financial assistance to New Mexican women and men diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer.

Our goal in our final year, is to reach $100,000, which will only be possible with the support of our community, as a whole. If you won’t be available on the 10th, not to worry as we have added a GoFundMe site (https://www.gofundme.com/k2-womens- weekend) this year to make donating possible from anywhere. This will be our last year of sponsoring the event so we are pulling out all the stops to make this the best year ever!

“We are excited to be able to sponsor this fun and important event one last time,” said Amy Bauer, Event Coordinator and Regional K2 Women’s Alliance Member. “It is hard to believe that an idea that started a little over a decade ago has grown and evolved in so many ways. This weekend is always a lot of fun and we know that this year will be no different despite the lack of snow. We hope everyone will come out and help us celebrate a decade of supporting such a worthy cause.”

“As in the past, we are seeking cash donations and items for our silent auction,” Bauer said. “With a goal of reaching $100K in 10 years, this year we have set up a GoFundMe site. All donations are tax-deductible and benefit the Anita Salas Memorial Fund.”
