Los Alamos Public Schools Announces Snow Day!

LAPS News:

Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) is closed today, Feb. 15, due to inclement weather conditions.

More snow is predicted this morning and LAPS cannot safely clear snow and ice before students arrive. LAPS also is not able to drive all bus routes. 

All classes are canceled. 

All after school programs including athletics (both home and away contests) and activities are canceled.

School will resume on a normal schedule Thursday, Feb. 16.

Non-essential County Facilities On Delayed Opening

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Manager Steven Lynne has ordered a two-hour delayed opening for all non-essential county government facilities today, Feb. 15, due to hazardous weather conditions.

County crews are working to clear major roads and streets according to the FY23 Snow and Ice Control Plan.

Atomic City Transit On 2-Hour Delay Due To Weather

Atomic City Transit regular scheduled bus service and para transit will operate on a 2-hour delay today, Feb. 15, 2023 due to weather conditions.

Service will begin at 8:05 a.m. today.

Route 3 regular route, 2, 1 & 6 Peak Services remain suspended until further notice due to staffing shortages.

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) received a request Jan. 24, 2023, for a 60-day extension of the WIPP Renewal Draft Permit comment period signed by 14 individuals representing 11 organizations.
