Award winning author Liddie Martinez just harvested the last of the Chimayo Red Chile fresh from the field of her farm in the Española Valley to assemble into a ristra. She will hang the completed ristra to decorate the doorway of her farmhouse and to dry for later cooking and eating. Martinez is a longtime food columnist for the Los Alamos Daily Post (link). Governor Reveals New Mexico Climate Investment Center

ALBUQUERQUE — Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham was joined by state leaders Friday to announce the creation of the New Mexico Climate Investment Center (NMCIC).

The Climate Investment Center will issue low-interest loans to local projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The governor was joined at the announcement by Leader Peter Wirth, Pro Tem Mimi Stewart and other legislators.

SANTA FE — A community meeting for the North Aztec Springs prescribed fire is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13 at the Office of Emergency Management, Emergency Operations Center, 1600 St. Michael’s Drive in Santa Fe.

Probably well-over 90-percent of the trout caught each year in New Mexico are triploid rainbow trout that began life in one of New Mexico’s fish hatcheries. Each year, the State Game and Fish Department stocks literally tons of these trout every week in New Mexico.

Young Eagles Rally At Los Alamos Airport Saturday Oct. 21

EAA Chapter 691 of the Experimental Aircraft Association is hosting a Young Eagles Rally on Oct. 21, 2023, at the Los Alamos Airport.  

They will be giving free airplane rides to kids 8-17 years old. Parents can register online for the rally at https://youngeaglesday.org/?yedetail&event=890wd8o3Q. A legal guardian must accompany the child to the Rally where they will need to sign a registration form and a waiver prior to the child’s flight.
