NMPED COVID-19 update: 1 Student, 2 Staff Test Positive In New Mexico Public Schools In Last 24 Hours

SANTA FE – The Public Education Department (NMPED) announced today three new positive cases of COVID-19 in the last 24-hours, after implementing a rapid response and verifying all pertinent information with the schools and school districts. 

The following new cases were reported:

  • One case at a public school in Bernalillo County. The infected individual is a teacher. The infected individual was last in the school building Aug. 25. All staff members and the parents and guardians of all students in the affected school have been notified of the positive case.

LAPS School Board Meeting Overview Of Sept. 8

Los Alamos School Board met for a regular meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020.The meeting was held virtually with over 350 participants in addition to the School Board members.

The meeting began with the swearing in of new Board Member, Melanie Colgan, by the Honorable Judge Elizabeth Allen. They also elected Dawn Jalbert as the School Board Secretary, replacing Julia Baker who resigned from the board to move out of state.

New Mexico Public Education Department COVID-19 Update: Confirming New Positive Cases In Schools Across State

As of Sept. 14, two staff and three students from five schools have tested positive

SANTA FE – Beginning today, Sept. 15, the Public Education Department will publish daily case updates regarding the number of positive school-related COVID-19 cases in New Mexico.

Los Alamos High School AP® Results, Awards For 2020

LAHS News:

Despite the closure of school in mid-March and the need for online testing, 305 Los Alamos High School (LAPS) AP students took 520 AP® exams this past May.

This year, 73 percent of students received scores of 3 or higher on their exams.

“We are proud of our students on their AP accomplishments,” LAHS Principal Carter Payne said. “This was an unusual year and they handled the switch from paper and pencil to online testing well.”

SANTA FE — Many school buildings across New Mexico will get upgraded air filters in the coming weeks to ensure that students return to in-person learning in the safest possible environment, the Public Education Department announced Friday.

Dance Arts Los Alamos (DALA) has a new logo and a new look at its website just in time for fall classes.

The DALA Fall Schedule kicked off Sept. 8, but there’s still time to register for both hybrid and fully online classes. DALA has been a mainstay of dance education in Los Alamos for 28 years.
