Updated Schedule For Pavement Preservation Work At Mesa Library Overflow And North Justice Center Parking Lots
COUNTY News:
Crews will be repairing asphalt in the Mesa Public Library Overflow parking lot (where the Farmers Market used to be held) as well as at the North Justice Center parking lot.
Work hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
Work is scheduled to commence at the Library Overflow Parking lot starting Tuesday, April 20.
Work at the Justice Center North Parking lot is anticipated to commence Wednesday, April 21.

The Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration’s (DOE/NNSA) Los Alamos Field Office has issued a Public Notice regarding its intent to prepare an environmental assessment (EA) pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA).

Los Alamos County will begin Monday, April 19, the operations to safely and humanely remove feral cattle from Bayo and Pueblo Canyons.
The cattle are impacting the safety of drivers on local roads, damaging cultural sites and have been aggressive to recreation users in the County.

New Mexico COVID-19 Update: 264 New Cases, Total 194,868 With 4 Deaths And 176,357 Patients Recovered
SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials announced today 264 new COVID-19 cases.
Los Alamos County reported zero new cases so the total remains 508 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)
Today’s update includes 4 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.
The New Mexico Department of Health reports the most recent cases:
- 97 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 9 new cases in Chaves County
- 1 new case in Cibola County
- 4 new cases in Curry County

LAMS Students Hold Supplies Drive For Homeless May 8

Bella Blair, an 8th grader at Los Alamos Middle School (LAMS) and her partner Caden Fichtl are doing speech and debate this year for their final.
They were challenged to find a problem in the community and they chose the homeless population in Santa Fe in need of supplies/covid supplies.

Route 4 Atomic City Transit Bus Stop Closures: #216 Diamond & Arkansas And #535 Arkansas & 41st

Atomic City Transit is advising customers that Bus Stop #216 at Diamond Drive and Arkansas Avenue and Bus Stop #55 at Arkansas Avenue and 41st Street will be closed due to a construction detour.
Route 4 customers should use Bus Stop #216 at 35th Street and Diamond Drive.
The closure will remain until further notice.
An additional temporary stop has been added on the east side of 41st Street and Arkansas Street.

Atomic City Transit is advising customers that Bus Stop #113 on the north side of Central Avenue and 4th Street will be removed.
The proximity of this bus stop to the new roundabout is close and could cause traffic delays.

Despite all the challenges Los Alamos County has and is facing due to the pandemic, it is entering Fiscal Year 2022 in strong financial shape.
“Unlike many other communities we have fared well during the pandemic,” County Manager Harry Burgess said. “This is largely due to budget increases at the laboratory.”

When the Los Alamos County Planning Manager position opened, Bryce Ternet seized the chance to live and work in Los Alamos.
“This just seemed like a perfect opportunity,” Ternet said.
He started as the Community Development Department’s (CDD) Planning Manager March 8. Ternet took over the position from Ryan Foster.
