New Mexico Superintendent of Insurance Russell Toal has announced the indictment of Matthew Walker of Albuquerque for felony arson and insurance fraud May 21, 2021.

Special agents with the Criminal Division of the Office of Superintendent of Insurance worked with Albuquerque Fire and Rescue to investigate the matter.

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives (MMIWR) Task Force will host a public meeting via zoom 6-8 p.m. today, June 25: “Foundation for Change: Ending Violence Against our Women and Relatives.”

Suspect Succumbs To His Injuries In Officer Involved Shooting In Santa Fe Wednesday Night

SANTA FE – The New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau was requested Wednesday to investigate an officer involved shooting Wednesday in Santa Fe involving the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office (SFCSO).

Investigators learned that Wednesday, June 23, SFCSO dayshift deputies encountered a stolen black Ford Ranger truck. The truck attempted to strike a SFCSO patrol unit, and a pursuit ensued. That pursuit was ultimately terminated.

New Mexico Unemployment Rate 8 Percent In May 2021

New Mexico’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 8.0 percent in May, down from 8.1 percent in April and down from 10.0 percent in the previous year.

The national unemployment rate in May was 5.8 percent, down from 6.1 percent in April and down from 13.3 percent in May 2020.

Total nonagricultural payroll employment grew by 39,900 jobs, or 5.2 percent, between May 2020 and May 2021. All gains came from the private sector, which was up 43,000 jobs, or 7.4 percent. The public sector was down 3,100 jobs, or 1.7 percent.
