ALBUQUERQUE — The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions’ (NMDWS), Economic Research & Analysis Bureau has developed a financial budgeting tool that estimates the minimum income needed for a person to cover their monthly living costs.

Governor, DFA Announce $150 Million In Grants To Support New Mexico Local Governments; Small Businesses

STATE News:

SANTA FE – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and the Department of Finance and Administration announced today $150 million in CARES Act grants to local governments across New Mexico to cover the cost of necessary expenditures incurred due to the public health emergency.

The governor announced that Los Alamos County will receive a $1,065,000 grant award for small businesses via local governments and a direct local government grant award of $656,250.

SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials have announced this afternoon 110 additional positive tests for COVID-19.

Access To New Mexico State Trust Land Increased For Sportspeople Just In Time For Deer And Elk Season

SLO News:

SANTA FE – The State Land Office (SLO) and the Department of Game and Fish (DGF) today announced the completion of project work aimed to increase access to state trust land for licensed hunters just in time for the beginning of deer and elk hunting season, which kicks off today.

In March 2020, SLO and DGF signed an Easement giving licensed sportspeople access to 8.8 million acres of state trust land.

DGF paid the SLO $800,000 for access, with an agreement to partner with SLO for $200,000 worth of projects aimed to enhance access to state trust land.

A federal arrest warrant has been issued for a Jemez Pueblo man who allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl.

The FBI and Pueblo of Jemez Police Department are looking for Edward Ray Loretto, 39. Loretto has previously resided in Jemez Pueblo and Albuquerque.

A federal arrest warrant was issued Aug. 17 in the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico, after Loretto was charged with offenses committed in Indian Country, aggravated sexual abuse of a child, and sexual abuse of a minor.

Burnout Operations Secure Western Edge Of Medio Fire

SFNF News:

Crews worked into the night to successfully complete burnout operations on the western edge of the Medio Fire.

These efforts aimed to eliminate the remaining fuel between the main body of the fire and the handline previously constructed by firefighters.

The fire, sparked by lightning Aug. 17, has consumed 3,681 acres on the Rio en Medio Trail in the Española Ranger District and is 59 percent contained.

Today, firefighters will patrol the containment lines, mop up any hot spots, and continue suppression repair efforts. An initial attack crew stands ready to suppress any new fire starts. Read More
