SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials announced this afternoon 609 additional positive tests for COVID-19.
Los Alamos County reports 3 more case today … the total is now 264 people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Today’s update includes 9 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.
The New Mexico Department of Health reports today the most recent cases:
- 125 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 34 new cases in Chaves County
- 3 new cases in Cibola County
- 8 new cases in Curry County
- 1 new case in De Baca County
- 74 new cases in Doña Ana County
- 49 new cases in Eddy County
- 5 new cases in Grant

NEW MEXICO – Today Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, the state’s Aging and Long-Term Services Department [ALTSD], and the Department of Health [DOH] announced that New Mexico will be one of the first states in the nation to begin vaccinating long-term care [LTC] staff and residents.

Los Alamos High School senior Gus Yeager, 17, has won the 2020 Pasatiempo Writing Contest in the Teen Fiction category.
“Gus was one of three winners in the teen category … it was a wonderful Christmas surprise for us all!,” his mother Shannan Schnedler told the Los Alamos Daily Post.
When he’s not writing stories and screenplays, Yeager can usually be found playing baseball, mountain biking or skiing.
Yeager plans to attend college next year, where he will major in film and screenwriting.
