LAYSL Soccer Tryouts May 15-25

The Los Alamos Youth Soccer League is holding tryouts for the Fall 2018 season for competitive teams and practice sessions/informational meetings for pre-competitive teams between May 15 and May 25 for boys and girls born 2002 through 2009.

Boys And Girls Golf Are 3rd Place State Champs

Both the boys and girls golf teams placed 3rd at the 5A State Golf Championship May 8-9 at Canyon Club in Albuquerque. Results can be found on the NMAA website at nmact.org. The boys, paced by four freshmen and a junior, were only one shot out of 2nd and 10 shots out of the championship won by Artesia. It was a very close competition. Jessica Osden and Leah Mountain were in the top-6 individuals on the girls side. Thus, they both made the all-tournament team. Sean Rau was the top player for the Hilltopper boys. Zach Medin Best Predictor In Pace Race

SPORTS News:
 
Fifteen runners waited out the rain and lightning and enjoyed a dust-free jaunt for a one mile or three mile run on Barranca Mesa and in Bayo Canyon.
 
On the short course, Beth Davenport and Billy Strother had the best predictions being off by 81 seconds (normalized to the three mile course). Savanna Strother was the first finisher at 8:11.
 
For the long course, on which runners ran around Barranca Mesa Elementary School and then down the horse trail into Bayo Canyon to the point and back Gonzales Road to Barranca School, Zachary Medin was the best predictor,
