Los Alamos Boys Tie For Fourth At State

Nathaniel Ortega completes the handoff to Isaac Timmerman in the 4×100 m relay prelim. In the May 13 final, the Los Alamos team of Nic Dowdy, Ortega, Timmerman, and Kevin Maresca (all seniors) placed 2nd with a time of 43.22 seconds. Ortega also placed 3rd in the 400 m with a time of 50.01 seconds, 4th in the 200 m with a time of 22.96 seconds, and anchored the 2nd place 4×400 m relay (with Miroslav Betts, Kai Coblentz, and Elijah Velasquez). Few people retire having done exactly what they wanted to do from when they were 14 years old. Los Alamos County Golf Club head golf professional Donnie Torres is one of those people. He retires this week after 33 years of service to Los Alamos County, all of it at the golf course.
