Los Alamos Sportsmen’s Club Youth Shotgun Team Qualifies For National Junior Olympic Competition

Los Alamos Sportsmen’s Club youth shotgun team members, from left, Kevin Dors, Cade Pimentel, Alison Pimentel, Sam Bond and Derek Laintz have qualified for the National Junior Olympic Shotgun competition in June in Colorado Springs. The team traveled May 12 to the Whittington Center in Raton where they competed in the New Mexico Junior Olympic Qualifier, which is usually in Los Alamos but had to be moved to Raton due to Stage 2 fire restrictions in Los Alamos County. NMAA Partners To Launch ‘Battlefields to Ballfields’

ALBUQUERQUE – The NMAA has partnered with former NFL Vice President of Officiating Mike Pereira, an NFL TV analyst, to launch “Battlefields to Ballfields” in New Mexico.

Battlefields to Ballfields is a Foundation that provides military veterans an opportunity to integrate back into their communities through officiating.

Mike Pereira will be in Albuquerque Thursday to officially launch the program – New Mexico will be the first state to do so and will serve as the template for implementation nationwide.

The New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau was called to investigate a former Mora and Pecos Schools coach for criminal sexual penetration of a 14-year-old student enrolled at Mora High School.
 
New Mexico State Police Agents were able to determine that over the course of four months, between November 2016 and February 2018, Apoloino Leroy Blea, 21, of Mora had ongoing contact with a 14-year-old student.
