Chamber Holds Golf Tournament Aug. 8

CHAMBER News:

The Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce is holding its annual Chamber Golf Tournament Benefitting United Way of Northern New Mexico Aug. 18 at the Los Alamos County Golf Course.

Early registration is $400 per foursome until Aug. 4, after that date registration is $500 per foursome. Individual golfers can register for $125. Registration includes breakfast, golf, cart and lunch. Sign up now at losalamoschamber.com/events.

Sponsorships are available for holes, beverages, lunch, breakfast and at the Gold, Silver and Bronze levels.

Everyone looking for ways to make summer exciting and accessible is invited to the Los Alamos Mountaineers meeting Tuesday, June 27, to hear a trio of talks about staycation ideas.
 
The presentation begins at 7:15 p.m. at the Los Alamos Nature Center. The Los Alamos Mountaineers meeting starts at 7 p.m. and covers information about upcoming outings.

Members of the Los Alamos Mountaineers will share three of their favorite local expeditions. To start, Sue Barns guidesthe audience through the San Juan Basin.

Locals Nathan Romero and Daniel Preston were strangers until a unique swimming competition tied them together. Both competed June 4 in the Alcatraz Sharkfest.

Hines Is Bandelier Employee Of The Quarter

Josh Hines has received the first Bandelier Employee of the Quarter Award. He has been a maintenance worker at Bandelier National Monument since May 2016. Superintendent Jason Lott said Hines was nominated and selected by his peers for his exceptional contributions to Bandelier's mission, support of his co-workers and for being an outstanding member of the Bandelier team. When some 40 residents of Jemez Mountain communities attended their final meeting with Cajete Fire officials Tuesday night in La Cueva, they expressed relief and gratitude for the containment of the fire without loss of human life, animals or damage to homes.
