FBI: Man From Las Cruces Sentenced To 12 Years In Federal Prison For Attempting To Coerce And Entice A Child

ALBUQUERQUE — Ismael Valdez, 38, of Las Cruces was sentenced July 19 in Federal Court to 12 years in prison for attempted coercion and enticement of a child. Valdez pleaded guilty to these charges Aug. 27, 2020.

According to his plea agreement, between April 29, 2020, and May 29, 2020, Valdez met and messaged an undercover law enforcement officer posing as a 13-year-old girl on a social networking application.

FBI: Artesia Couple Charged In Connection To Bank Robbery

FBI News:

ALBUQUERQUE — Roman Andrew Poulsen, 39, and Lori Crapo, 40, both of Artesia, appeared in federal court July 16 on charges for their respective roles in a July 15 bank robbery.

Poulsen faces a charge of bank robbery while Crapo is accused of being an accessory after the fact. The defendants will remain in custody pending a detention hearing.

Canyon Rim Walking Trail Closed For Repairs

COUNTY News:

GME Emulsion, LLC will begin trail rehabilitation on Canyon Rim Walking Trail from Knecht Street to the trail termini at the parking lot under construction with the underpass.

The first section of trail repair is between Knecht Street and DP Road and the second section is from DP Road to the trail termini. These sections of the trail will be closed during the repairs, which include mill and overlay, crack sealing and fog seal.

No street closures will occur during the construction.

New Mexico COVID-19 Update: 273 New Cases, Totaling 208,243 With 2 New Deaths And 196,373 Recovered

SANTA FE — New Mexico state health officials Thursday announced 273 additional COVID-19 cases.

Los Alamos County reports zero new cases so the total remains 546 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)

This update includes 2 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.

Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are:
