New Mexico COVID-19 Update: 565 New Cases, Total Now 176,211 With 17 New Deaths And 108,144 Patients Recovered
STATE News:
SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials announced this afternoon 565 additional positive tests for COVID-19.
Los Alamos County reports 4 new cases today bringing the total to 456 people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Today’s update includes 17 more deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.
The New Mexico Department of Health reports today’s most recent cases:
- 159 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 18 new cases in Chaves County
- 12 new cases in Cibola County
- 2 new cases in Colfax County
- 6 new cases in Curry County
- 1 new case in De Baca County
- 94 new cases in Doña Ana County
- 26 new cases

SANTA FE—The New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) issued public health guidance today for New Mexicans ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl.
“Gathering for the Super Bowl this year is an untenable risk to the health and safety of your loved ones and friends,” DOH Secretary-Designate Dr. Tracie Collins said. “The virus is still a very real danger. If you choose to watch the game, please do so only with members of your household.”

FBI: California Man Sentenced To Three Years In Federal Prison For Robbing Bank In Roswell

ALBUQUERQUE — Randy Matthew Peraza, 48, of Needles, Calif., was sentenced Jan. 27 in federal court to three years in prison for bank robbery.
Peraza pleaded guilty July 9, 2020. In his plea agreement, Peraza admitted to walking into a bank in Roswell March 13, 2020, announcing, “This is a robbery”, and demanding money from a bank teller. As the teller gathered cash, Peraza applied hand sanitizer to his hands and used a lighter to light his hands on fire.
