New Mexico COVID-19 Update: 237 New Cases, Total Now 183,023 With 11 New Deaths And 134,105 Patients Recovered

STATE News:

SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials today announced 237 additional COVID-19 cases.

Los Alamos County reports 1 new case today bringing the total to 474 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)

Today’s update includes 11 more deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.

The New Mexico Department of Health reports today’s most recent cases:

  • 79 new cases in Bernalillo County

Legislation Ending Name-Change Publication Requirement Created To Protect Domestic Violence Survivors: HB204

The House Health and Human Services Committee unanimously passed HB 204 Wednesday, a bill to end the outdated requirement for people legally changing their names to have the change published twice in local newspapers.

The bill, which eliminates the publication requirement for any New Mexican seeking a name change, was initially created to protect domestic violence survivors.

Man Charged For Shooting At Alamogordo Police Sergeant

ALAMOGORDO — At approximately 11:48 a.m., Feb. 13 the Alamogordo Police Department responded to a residence on Stanford Avenue in Alamogordo reference to a neighbor dispute.

When the sergeant arrived at the residence, he met with the reporting party. As the sergeant conducted an interview with the reporting party, he heard approximately four gunshots fired toward his direction from 2410 Stanford Ave.

Bandelier And Valles Caldera Resume Pile Burns

The National Park Service began the process of prescribed fire in Bandelier National Monument and Valles Caldera National Preserve Thursday and will continue through the end of the week as conditions allow or until completion.

The prescribed burns will occur in previously thinned areas where materials have been piled. Burn operations are completed in phases over several days depending on weather and fuel conditions.
