The Environmental Services Division’s quarterly brush collection is underway. The program started in August and runs through the beginning of October.

Lightning Strikes Los Alamos Golf Course Trees

Lightning struck a tree around 4:30 p.m. Sunday near Tee 12 at the Los Alamos Golf Course. Reports are that a golfer near the strike was knocked off his feet but uninjured and the sound from the strike heard over in Quemazon. Bear Wanders Near Los Alamos High School

STAFF REPORT 

 

Los Alamos High School (LAHS) activated a shelter-in-place Monday after a bear was spotted in the vicinity of the school’s campus.

The shelter-in-place lasted approximately 15 minutes, LAHS Principal Carter Payne said. During the shelter-in-place, students stayed in the classrooms and instruction continued; however, the doors and windows were closed, he said.

Payne added there was no interaction between people and the bear. He said the School Resource Officer called Animal Control.

Teachers Night Out: A Garden Party In Santa Fe Oct. 4
