Marie Violee Geoffrion Sept. 9, 1928 - March 3, 2013

Marie Violee Geoffrion passed away peacefully March 3, 2013. Marie Violee McElroy was born September 9, 1928 in Las Vegas, NM.  

She met Louis Geoffrion in Las Vegas and they were wed September 16, 1949. They moved to Los Alamos after their marriage where they lived for the 58 years until Marie was preceded in death by Louis in 2007.

Marie was a long time resident of Los Alamos, NM and a recent resident of Sierra Vista Living Community in Santa Fe, NM.  

While in Los Alamos, Marie was an Administrative Assistant for the Los Alamos

Laboratory retiree, Eugene Henderson Eyster of Los Alamos passed away at Sombrillo Care Center February 17, 2013. Gene was 98 years old.

He was born on March 21, 1914 in Wheaton, Minnesota. He married Joyce Krenz, also of rural Minnesota on January 6, 1942. They celebrated 71 years of married this past January.

They spent four years at the Bureau of Mines in Pittsburgh, followed by work in Indianhead, Maryland and Washington, D. C. In 1948 they came to Los Alamos. Gene retired from the Lab in 1980.

Gene graduated from Wheaton High

Carol Sue Van Vessem March 30, 1958 Feb. 20, 2013

Carol Sue Van Vessem passed away on February 20, 2013 at the age of 54 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. 

She was born in Los Alamos, New Mexico on March 30, 1958. 

A service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2 at the American Legion Post 90, located at 1325 Trinity in Los Alamos.

GORDON NEAL KEATING 1966Feb. 14, 2013

Gordon Neal Keating of Los Alamos, New Mexico died peacefully February 14, after a lengthy illness. He passed away at home surrounded by close family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jody Keating, and is survived by his father, Richard Keating (of Edwardsville, IL.), wife, Elizabeth, daughters, Flannery and Zoë, and brother Phillip (of Denver, Colo.)

He grew up in Edwardsville, IL., and attended Carleton College in Northfield, Minn. He was passionate about geology, especially volcanology. After college, Gordon worked for the U.S.
