Why Afghanistan?

The main purpose of our Afghanistan trip last month was to visit the graduation ceremonies for Green Village Schools’ Advanced Education Center (GVS-AEC) in Lashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand Province.

Los Alamos Students Visit Versailles

Los Alamos students touring Europe are now visiting Versailles. Versailles is a city in France renowned for its chateau, the Palace of Versailles and the Garden of Versailles. Founded by the will of King Louis XIV, it was the de facto capital of the kingdom of France for more than a century, from 1682 to 1789, before becoming the cradle of the French Revolution. Los Alamos Students Move on to Paris!

Los Alamos students made the most of a delay in their trip this week visiting countries in Europe. Teacher Lynn Ovaska wrote: "Our bus getting back to the hotel was delayed when another school missed the meeting time. Instead of being upset, we all went back over to the Eiffel Tower and laid underneath it when the lights sparkled. I will forever remember this moment together and this amazing group of kids who entertained each other With charades, dancing, and jokes until the bus arrived.

Middle School Project Moves Forward

The construction project at Los Alamos Middle School hit a snag, but is now moving forward.

The Los Alamos Public School Board learned Tuesday night that the project was put on ice last week after contractor Bradbury Stamms filed a protest.

Board member Dawn Venhaus explained to the Los Alamos Daily Post that during a bid process, bidders are allowed to protest if they feel something is unfair.

She said Bradbury Stamms was concerned over the “extra-points” that the New Mexico

Take Dad to See the Birds

PEEC News:

On Father’s Day, Sunday June 17, PEEC will be offering a free Birdscape Tour of White Rock. 

This is a chance to visit four homes that have optimized their yards for attracting birds. 

The yards will be open for visitors 1-5 p.m. This is a self-guided tour, and no registration is required.

The four yards on display this year will be at the Dunns, 107 Sierra Vista Dr.; the Walkers, 305 Donna Ave.; the Foxes, 238 Rio Bravo Dr.; and the Arendts, at 608 La Bajada.
