ENVIRONMENT News:

Delve into a simulated world of caves 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 24 at the Los Alamos Nature Center.

This is the perfect opportunity to crawl through 60-foot tunnels, observe vertical rope climbing demos, and practice rescue missions. The electronic simulator will track your movements so you can learn what it takes to access some of the most remote places on Earth.

To add to the adventure, the Classic Air Medial helicopter will land at 9:30 a.m. at the nature center. Parking will be available on the street and across the street at the United Church.

CaveSim is a fun, educational adventure for the whole family. In addition to prepping explorers with the proper gear, its computer times and monitors progress.

The more careful you are at avoiding delicate cave formations and artifacts, the higher your score. But that’s not all! Work with experienced cavers to rescue “injured” comrades and learn more about professional caving technique.

This event is made possible by the generous support of Los Alamos County, Classic Air Medical, Pajarito Grotto and the Los Alamos Mountaineers. Admission is free to the public.
