Santa Fe Opera's Apprentice Concert Sunday

Join us in welcoming The Santa Fe Opera 2017 Festival Season with a Community Concert by Apprentice Singers from The Santa Fe Opera. Soprano Abigail Rethwisch and Baritone Kenneth Stavert will be preforming. The Santa Fe Opera’s pianist Michael Spassov will be the accompanist.
   
Los Alamos and Española Valley Opera Guilds invite you to enjoy the concert at the Los Alamos Fuller Lodge, 2132 Central Avenue; Los Alamos.
 
Punch and cookies will be provided at the concert, which begins at 2:30PM on Sunday, June 18, 2017. Guild members are free. Community members and friends are welcome for a suggested donation of $10. 
   
Chapter Guild Memberships will be available. Donations are welcome.
 
Abigail Rethwisch, soprano from Iowa City, IA, covers Ida in Die Fledermaus this season at The Santa Fe Opera. As a Resident Artist with Utah Opera, she has performed the roles of Frasquita Carmen, Aunt Sarah/Iraqi Woman/Shrink The Long Walk and the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor after stepping in as the cover to take over the entire run of the production. She will return to Utah Opera for their 2017/2018 season to sing Adele Die Fledermaus. Past young artist programs include Chautauqua Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, and Tri-Cities Opera. She holds degrees from Simpson College and Florida State University.
 
Baritone Kenneth Stavert, from Fullerton, California, received his Masters degree from the College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati. His professional credits include Papageno in Die Zauberflöte and Silvio in Pagliacci with Dayton Opera, Harlekin in Ariadne auf Naxos with Palm Beach Opera, Marco in Gianni Schicchi, Masetto in Don Giovanni and Dick Deadeye in H.M.S. Pinafore with Intermountain Opera Bozeman and Sciarrone in Tosca with Madison Opera. He has been a featured soloist with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. 2018 sees Kenneth returning to Dayton Opera for Ping in Turandot.
