LWV News:

The League of Women Voters will host its monthly community event, Lunch with a Leader, at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15 at Mesa Public Library. The leader this month is Douglas Carver.

Carver is the executive director of New Mexico Ethics Watch. He previously worked with the New Mexico Legislative Council Service and the Judicial Standards Commission. He graduated from Yale University, Trinity College Dublin, and the University of New Mexico School of Law.

He will discuss the proposed constitutional amendment regarding the establishment of an ethics commission, upon which the public will vote in 2018.

This year New Mexico lawmakers approved a plan for an independent statewide ethics commission, something good government groups have been urging for years. Carver will discuss the ethics commission amendment in the context of New Mexico's ethics environment.

To order a lunch from the Co+op ($10), call Karyl Ann Armbruster at 505.231.8286 or email to get the entire menu choices. Lunch orders need to be given to her by Friday, Aug. 12. Ordering a lunch is not mandatory to attend the luncheon.
