LACA Presents Baltimore Consort March 5
One of America’s favorite early music ensembles, the Baltimore Consort, will perform at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 5 in the Smith Auditorium in Los Alamos.
Presented by the Los Alamos Concert Association, the Consort will explore instrumental music of the 16th and 17th centuries in a program they call “Gut, Wind, and Wire.”
In addition to early music staples like viols, lutes and recorders, the program will introduce less familiar instruments including the gemshorn, crumhorn, Renaissance bagpipe, rebec and cittern.
Founded in 1980, the Baltimore Consort tours regularly to enthusiastic audiences throughout the United States and appears frequently in Europe. The ensemble has recorded 14 discs on the Dorian label earning spots on Billboard Magazine’s Top-Ten list.
Tickets to the concert ($30) are available at the Lensic box office in Santa Fe, CB FOX and Smith’s Marketplace in Los Alamos, and Smith’s in White Rock or electronically at www.ticketssantafe.com. Tickets at the door are $35.
Continuing a long Los Alamos Concert Association tradition, students ages 6 through 18 may request free tickets at the door.
