U.S. CONGRESSIONAL News:

WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Rep. Steve Pearce sponsored an amendment that has passed Congress along with H.R. 2936, the Resilient Federal Forests Act of 2017.

This bill works to prevent catastrophic wildfires and improve the health of forests. This year’s devastating wildfire season burned nearly 8,000 homes and cost upwards of $3 billion in fire suppression efforts.

Environmental groups are acknowledging the increased use of forest thinning and restoration efforts that can lessen the severity of wildfires and better protect the community along with the environment.
