The diversity and community that exists in House District 43 is unique and rewarding for all. As your State Representative for District 43 I received many positive comments about my legislative updates from the 2012 Session and I believe constituents will want to know of my continuing work in the District. In this brief periodic column, I will continue to discuss state government concerns and issues that arise while I work with constituents and communities in District 43. If you live in District 43 and have an issue or a concern, I welcome your comments and questions.

GOP New Mexico Pre-Primary Convention Closes Today

Several candidates at today’s GOP Pre-Primary Convention at the Crowne Plaza in Albuquerque were assured top spots on the ballot for the June Primary election.

Longtime local and state Republican Party leader JoAnn Johnson was a delegate at today’s convention.

“About 800 people attended this very well organized event,” said Johnson who is campaign coordinator for U.S. Senatorial candidate Heather Wilson in Los Alamos County. “Lt. Gov. John Sanchez nominated Heather and the entire hall broke out in applause.”

Los Alamos Democratic Party News:

U.S. Senatorial candidate Rep. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., addressed supporters from Los Alamos and Santa Fe at a fundraiser at Anthony’s on the Delta in Espanola Tuesday night.

A large crowd listened to the Congressman talk about what can be done to help Los Alamos and the nation.

Local GOP Elects New Officers

Los Alamos Republican Party News:

The Los Alamos Republican Party elected new officers during its monthly meeting this evening at the Best Western Hilltop House Hotel.

Jordan Redmond was elected chair of the Los Alamos Republican Party, replacing Ron Dolin who resigned last month after serving nearly three terms.

Bill McKerley was elected 1st vice chair, filling the vacancy created when Redmond became chair.

Joe Archuleta remains 2nd vice chair.

Norma Tech continues to serve as treasurer and Mike Weaver as secretary.
