Documentary ‘Blood Road’ In Los Alamos Sept. 7

Ride the Ho Chi Minh Trail with ultra-endurance athlete Rebecca Rusch, as Red Bull Media House’s award-winning documentary Blood Road premieres Thursday, Sept. 7 at the Reel Deal Theater, 2551 Central Ave.

Blood Road captures Rebecca and her Vietnamese riding partner Huyen Nguyen’s 1,200-mile search for the place where Rebecca’s father, a U.S. Air Force pilot, was shot down in Laos more than 40 years earlier. During this voyage, the women push their bodies to the limit, while learning more about the historic ‘Blood Road’ and how the Vietnam War shaped their lives in very different ways.

  • WHAT: Screening of Blood Road to raise funds for Healing America’s Heroes, a therapeutic horse, fly fishing, and skill-building program in Chama, NM, serving male and female veterans with week-long retreats.
  • WHO: Fundraiser recipient Eddie Crain with Healing America’s Heroes will be introduced by event sponsors Los Alamos American Legion Post and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post; beer and wine sales by Bathtub Row Brewing (tentative).
  • WHEN: Thursday, Sept. 7, 6:30 p.m. – Doors open, 7 p.m. – Film begins.
  • WHERE: Reel Deal Theater, 2551 Central Avenue, Los Alamos.
  • TICKETS: $10 at door; early sales at theater box office two weeks prior to event.
