Hannemann’s Music Corner: What About Music? (Part 1)
By RICHARD HANNEMANN

I’ve been attending the final concerts of the school bands and orchestras and it has been a real treat.

We grow some very talented kids here. More importantly, we encourage kids to develop their own talents. The proof, as they say, is in the pudding and the musical pudding our kids have been cooking up is very sweet indeed.

Somewhere along the line, one wonders, “gee, if I knew then what I know now, what would I change?” For me, the answer is simple – I would put as much time into my

The role played by clothing in most women’s lives cannot be overestimated.

From Brownie uniforms to prom outfits, little black dresses, spike heels, Grateful Dead t-shirts, pedal pushers, tube tops and wedding gowns, women’s memories are tied up with what they were wearing at the time.

And then there’s “the purse,” that ubiquitous accessory with which women seem to have a love/hate relationship.

‘Star Trek: Into Darkness’ a Great Summer Adventure

Movie Review by KIRSTEN LASKEY

Some movies just fit the bill for the perfect summer blockbuster.

They are as refreshing as a soda on a hot day, as thrilling as an approaching three-month break from school and as fun as that first jump into the pool. “Star Trek: Into Darkness” fits solidly into this description.

This movie jets you, at warp speed, on a wonderful tour of the galaxy. You get to travel to planets that are lush in scarlet forests or observe Earth’s future sleek and glossy cities. Even the bowels of the starship Enterprise are beautiful. Everything is a visual delight.
