Angkor Wat was first a Hindu, then subsequently a Buddhist, temple complex in Cambodia. It is the largest religious monument in the world.

Construction on Angkor Wat first began in the 12th Century AD and became the largest preindustrial city in the world measuring at least 1,000 square kilometers. Today, Angkor Wat is much more than just a bunch of old buildings. An entire community of people still live within the protected area.

“X-Men: Days of Future Past” may fall into the same genre of superhero movies as “Spiderman 2”, which played last week here in town, but that is where any similarity between the two films ends.

Admittedly, this is an entertaining genre but my qualifications critiquing it are few. Like many people, I don’t have the backstory on these characters (especially Mystique, Beast, Quicksilver, Wolverine, even Professor X and Magneto) beyond what the film itself tells us.

‘Art in Action’ Launching at White Rock Visitor Center

An Art in Action program is rolling out Memorial Day Weekend at the White Rock Visitor Center on N.M. 4.

The first featured artist is photographer Diana McPherson, owner of Friends of Nature Photography.
